There are two main methods of commincation at Evernight, Newsgroups & Email.
Lets look at newsgroups: In the lobby, you will see on your right, a newsgroups tab,
click on this to bring up a list of Newsgroups(often called NG's) that you have subscribed to, please Note: when you 1st join, there are several default NG's on your list.
there are 2 types of NG's here, the "lobby" NG's as above that everyone has access to & then once you join a game, you'll also have access to game NG's that are game dedicated.
game dedicated NG's are only available to players in that game.
Subscribing to NG's: at the bottom of your list of Lobby NG's(& this is the same for your game NG's) there is a subscription tab, click here for a full list of NG's that you can subscribe to.
simply check the box next to the NG/s you'd like to subscribe to then scroll to the bottom & click on the subscribe tab.
Next time you check your NG's, the new newsgroups will be available directly from your newsgroups page.
Each subscribed player is allowed to create 1 lobby NG & 1 game NG, this may be on any subject you like providing it adheres to the CoC(code of conduct)
Once again, go to the subscription tab at the bottom of your list of NG's.
From there, scroll to the bottom of the list where the option to create an NG resides.
*With lobby NG's, you can make it a public NG(open to all) or you can make it password protected.
It is preffered that you make it password protected if the content is of an Adult nature
*With Game NG's, several options exist, as above, you can make a public or password protected NG, but you can also make it "Team restricted", this means only those players on your team will have access to it.
Another option is to make it "Religion restricted" this means only those players of a certain religion type will have access.
When you send a mail or NG post, you have a drop down list of NGs you can post to, select whichever is relevant.
Please note: anytime you reply to an NG post, the relevant NG is defaulted in the newsgroup section, if you don't want it to go there, you must deselect it.
Below this is the to: field, the CC field & the BCC field.
Placing a name into any of these fields sends a "mail" to that player(as opposed to a public post)
for instance, say I am replying to an NG post but I want to make sure several players see the message,(not everyone reads the NG's)
I write the player alias of the person I want to have see this post in the to: field.
Another person can be put in the CC field or just added to the To: field like any normal email you might send.
I also want to notify another player of this post but I don't want anyone to see that I have included him, so I place his name in the BCC: field (BCC = Blind CC)
Lastly, in team games, I can place the word team in the to field & the message will be sent to all players on my "Team", all other names must be placed in the CC field otherwise this will not work.
Some NG Guidlines: Please QO, (Quote original) This places the mail you are responding to below your text so others can understand the context of your message, obviously if your starting a new "thread" there is no QO :)
on a lighter note, There a several self appointed QO police cruizing the NGs for non QO offences, failure to QO may result in being (virtually)locked up in Szuszi's Dungeon, wether this is a bad thing is subjective & some players Don't QO on purpose just for the experience of being locked up in Szuszi's dungeon, lol
Please don't take the last bit to seriously, as it's only done for a bit of fun, but please try to QO in most cases so we know what your on about ;)
Moderators: there are 2 official Moderators that cruize the NG's, Rishib & Mangus.
These guys are here to make sure behaviour in the NG's is kept at a respectable level, CoC offences such as swearing will not be tolerated & can lead to gagging & or cancellation of account for continued breaches.
They will also ask that off topic subjects be moved to more relavant NG's.
Please don't view this as cencorship, you are allowed to post what you like, but where you post it should be taken into consideration.
for instance, a thread in the general NG may turn political for whatever reason & Rishib may come along & ask you to move it to RWP(real world politics) NG :)
